Greetings Cedars Brothers & Sisters,
This week we are again highlighting a senior woman who lives alone, is handicapped and low income. She can no longer read due to vision problems and could use someone to come by every couple of weeks to sort mail. She is also unable to drive and needs an occasional ride.
The Winter Relief Shelter (WRS) continues to be open every night through March 15th. There’s still a few days left where volunteers are needed. If you would like to sign up please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org and they will send you more information. For daily updates call their Hotline at 574-2222.
The WRS is winding down, but there’s still a great need for:
Men’s boxers (L-XL)
Women’s underwear (M-XL)
Warm/thick crew or tube socks (preferably dark)
The WRS still needs an analog to digital converter to watch movies in the evening & some hot cocoa packets.
All donations can be left at the Welcome Desk/Guest Services and we will deliver them to the WRS for you or you may take them to the Compassion Network Office.
PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR THOSE WHO LIVE ON THE STREETS.
Something to chew on....
“When we practice generating compassion, we can expect to experience the fear of our pain. Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” Pema Chodron
Let's keep this in mind as we continue to serve God and others!
