Weekly Church Update - November 10th, 2017

Hello, Cedars Church,

I am implementing a weekly letter for communicating to you, the church.  We, the elders, staff, and leaders need to be communicating better.  I read a passage in Luke 9 where Jesus is frustrated with his disciples because they couldn’t cast out a demon.  Jesus says, “Oh, unbelieving and twisted generation.”  God has convicted me of being unbelieving and it has resulted in a twistedness that has kept me from communicating.  This is one of the changes God is working in my heart right now.  I don’t know if you have that twist in you, keeping things to yourself and not being able to share openly with those around you.  I don’t know how common it is, but it happened in me.  I confess and repent.  Oh, God, save me from this twist and make me a communicator.

In other news, I am meeting Friday with some people who are going to help me make the cross.  I am excited about it.  My basic design is a simple, large, rough wooden cross set in concrete.  I will keep you informed on the progress.

And thanksgiving is coming.  We have this wonderful opportunity to give to needy families in our cities.  Compassion Network, a part of CityServe (of which I am on the board) is hosting Hearty Harvest, a thanksgiving dinner give-a-way, at our church on November 20th.  We hosted this last year as well.  Last year there were somewhere around 700 people that were served.  What a great opportunity to demonstrate Jesus, share his love, and even tell people the great gospel of Jesus Christ.  We get to care about people.  We will have many other churches sending volunteers to help us care for these people.  Please join in on the fun and serving opportunity.

God Bless You All
