Our Elder Ray Wimsett

Hello Cedars.

We want you to know who our elders are.  here, today, I am giving you a biography of Ray Wimsett.  Please take a moment and go say “Hi” to him sometime on Sunday.

Ray started attending what was then Cedar Boulevard Neighborhood Church in 2001. He accepted Christ at an early age through the example and life of his mother. He lived in 10 different locations in Southern California before moving to Livermore for High School. Yes, that means he is still a Dodgers, Lakers and Rams fan.

Ray graduated from San Jose Bible College in 1977 and then attended Lincoln Christian Seminary. Though in the paid ministry for only a few years as a youth pastor and pastor, he was able to preach on a regular basis at several churches while working as a computer programmer. Over the years Ray served various churches in roles such as deacon, elder, youth leader, preacher, teacher, sound tech and small group leader.

By day, Ray works for a large insurance company as a senior manager of data analytics and engineering. By night he enjoys teaching classes and leading small groups. He is married to Gwen who does bookkeeping for Cedars church and volunteers as a children’s Sunday school teacher. Together they enjoy snorkeling in warm sunny places, hiking, reading and traveling. They have 5 children and 7 grandchildren with one more on the way.

Over the course of the next few months we will have the biographies of different elders mixed in with these communications.  I will also be keeping you updated on my India trip.  I leave today.

God Bless You!
